Membership billing is handled monthly. Your first payment is due when your membership begins, and subsequent payments are billed on the same date each month. We accept payment via all major payment methods through our automatic online subscription service Stripe, via Venmo, or old-fashioned check.
Ceramics memberships with a 3-month commitment require you to fulfill the initial 3-month term. All recurring memberships require 30 days' notice to cancel.
Ceramics members get 24/7 access to the studio. You'll receive an access code when your membership begins. Please make sure the studio is locked up when you leave. Never share your access code with anyone else. Doing so may result in termination of your membership.
Artist Studio Space members may arrange for another person to use their space temporarily, but the subletter must be approved by the studio manager and agree to our studio policies.
Studio & Equipment
We sell an assortment of clays primarily from New Mexico Clay. Members may also purchase clay at the Ah Haa School of Art in town, or source their own clay to bring into the studio. All clays must be Cone 5/6.
Our community shelf has an assortment of glazes at members disposal, though many members choose to purchase and bring their own. We also have the GlazeLab for members who wish to make their own glazes using the raw chemical ingredients.
The ceramics studio has five throwing wheels, a mini slab roller, a Brent Wall Extruder, drying racks, and a full set of hand tools. Our MakerSpace includes a Cricut Maker 4, BambuLabs A1 3D Printer, a studio iMac, and a full assortment of hand and power tools. We also have a photography darkroom.
Every ceramics member gets a dedicated storage shelf for their work-in-progress pieces and supplies. Please keep your area tidy and label your work. Storage is included with your membership at no extra cost. Members who require additional storage space may be permitted to rent an additional shelf or storage area within the studio at the discretion of the studio manager.
The GlazeLab is a wide assortment of raw glaze chemicals — from feldspars and frits to oxides and colorants — that members may use to mix and test their own glazes. Due to the hazardous nature of many glaze materials in powder form, access to the GlazeLab requires a short training session and approval by the studio manager.
Visiting & Open Studios
Open Studio Days are designated times when the ceramics studio is open to the public for non-members to come learn, create, and try their hand at ceramics. We aim to host Open Studio Days once per month — check our social media or reach out for the current schedule.
Still have questions? Shoot us a message — we usually reply same-day.
Get in touchAbout the Wheelhouse
The Wheelhouse was originally founded in 2020 by Telluride resident Jules Fallman. In the years that intervened since it exchanged hands to Tara Carter in 2022, and most recently to Rob Nealan in 2024.
With a lot of love and community support, this studio has become a thriving creative space for potters and artists alike.
The Space
We recently expanded to 2,000 square feet of total studio space, split across our community ceramics studio, private artist studios, darkroom, and community makerspace.
The ceramics studio has five throwing wheels, a 5" wall extruder, a mini slab roller, reclaim batts, drying racks, dedicated member storage, and semi-weekly free kiln firings. The makerspace includes a Cricut Maker 4, BambuLabs A1 3D Printer, Thunder Laser Nova 24 Plus, and a full suite of hand and power tools. The darkroom is stocked with 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras.
What's Next
We're announcing regular classes and workshops throughout the summer, adding a community sewing workspace, and expanding selling opportunities for members — including a regular member presence at the Telluride Farmers Market through the summer.
